Before you stand, your knee may already feel tight. The first few steps bring a dull ache. It may ease after you move, then return on stairs. This timing doesn't name the cause, but it helps explain the soreness.

Why does it hurt more after sitting?

Rest gives the knee time to stiffen, and standing makes the joint carry body pressure again. Cartilage and leg muscles spread that pressure across the knee, so changes can make the first steps sore. Arthritis, a strained tendon, weak muscles, or an old injury may cause similar trouble.

Notice when the ache begins and how long it lasts. Also note swelling, catching, buckling, or a recent twist. These details help separate joint soreness from tendon or muscle trouble. A hot, red knee or sudden trouble standing on that leg needs prompt care.

For a mild flare, ease back on the activity that started it. Moving the knee gently may prevent stiffness from building through the day. Cold may settle swelling, while warmth may loosen a tight knee. Put a towel on your skin before using either one. Supportive shoes can lessen the strain of each step.

Timing, swelling, and movement give the provider a useful starting point.

What can you do if the soreness doesn't settle?

Make an appointment when soreness keeps limiting walking, sleep, or stairs. Show where you feel it, then describe which movements start the ache. During the exam, the provider checks swelling, motion, strength, and steadiness. Bring your medicine list and earlier x-rays, scan reports, or clinic notes.

After examining the knee, QC Kinetix medical providers may offer regenerative treatment. This means material is taken from your body, prepared, and put into the knee joint. One option is platelet-rich plasma, a treatment made from your own blood. A blood sample is spun to gather platelets, which are small blood parts. The prepared liquid goes into the sore joint, and a concentrated form has more platelets in that liquid.

This is called a biologic therapy because its material comes from your body. Joint preservation means trying to ease soreness and keep daily movement possible without surgery. It doesn't mean damage has stopped or surgery will never be needed.

The first consultation doesn't cost you anything. Ask about price, time afterward, and how less soreness or easier walking will be checked. The provider must also explain when different care would make more sense.

You need to know what happens, what improvement means, and what remains uncertain.
